What We Treat
Valley Fever
Valley Fever, also known as acute coccidioidomycosis, is a fungal infection caused by coccidioides organisms. This infection can lead to symptoms like fever, cough, and tiredness. Two specific species of coccidioides fungi are responsible for valley fever and are commonly found in soil within specific regions. Any disruption to the soil, such as farming, construction, or wind, can release the fungi’s spores into the air, which can then be breathed in by people and cause valley fever. While mild cases of valley fever usually resolve on their own, more severe cases require treatment with antifungal medications.
